Lord Sainsbury has won the election to be the new 108th Chancellor of prestigious Cambridge University...The 70-year-old businessman got more than TWICE as many votes as actor Brian Blessed, who came second, while leading lawyer Michael Mansfield came third and local shopkeeper Abdul Arain came fourth...Just over 5,500 university alumni voted in the first election for a new Chancellor in 164 years, with Lord Sainsbury polling 2893, compared with Blessed's 1389...Mr Mansfield got 964 votes and Mr Arain pulled in just 312..."I am pleased and honoured to have been elected as the next Chancellor of Cambridge University and I would like to thank all those who have supported me and the other candidates who have made this such a friendly election," said Lord Sainsbury today (Sun)..
